Ingredients tinklees tamale pie


1 lb ground hamburger
1 15oz can roasted chopped tomatoes. (can use a 29oz can of tomato sauce in place of both cans of tomatoes)
1 15oz can tomatoe sauce
2 tsp chili powder. (season to taste)
1 tsp garlic powder (season to taste)
1 tsp onion powder (season to taste)
3/4 tsp cumin (season to taste)
1/2 tsp black pepper (season as taste)
1 15oz can black olives. (i like using small ones)
1/3 cup olive juice. (from can of olives)
16 oz frozen corn
1 box Jiffy cornbread mix
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Brown hamburger over med-much heat until brown and done, drain grease,, Add tomatoes and tomatoes sauce and turn down to med,


Add l of the seasonings, olives and olive juice, and frozen corn, let cook for about 10min, taste and adjust if needed,


Heat oven to 400F, Grease an 8x8 or 11/2 qt cassarole dish, mix up the box of jiffy cornbread mix according to directions,


Add hamburger mixture to pan, then drop cornbread by spoonfuls over top of the hamburger mixture covering most of top,


sprinkle with shredded cheese, bake until cheese and corn bread are bubbly and golden brown


if someone does not like olives I leave them whole so they can remove them, it really does taste better with the olives juice in it


I make an extra box of cornbread to eat with on the side
